Event Communication Design / Cultural Promotion

A series of promotional materials designed for live music events, including jam sessions and tribute rock performances at a local venue. The project develops a visual communication system for cultural events, translating live performance energy into bold, print-based promotional design.

The layouts use high-contrast typography, structured grid systems, and layered imagery to communicate both atmosphere and essential event information, including lineup, time, and venue details.

Each piece balances expressive visual language with clear informational hierarchy, ensuring legibility while capturing the intensity and immediacy of live performance culture.

HAVARD CONFERENCE - LEGAL SIZE POSTER

2018

This poster was designed for the Harvard Graduate School of Design to promote a conference exploring the foundational knowledge required in architectural education in the 21st century.

The challenge was to translate a dense, text-heavy academic framework into a visually engaging and accessible poster that could function both as an announcement and a standalone intellectual artifact.

Concept

The concept centers on architecture as a structured body of knowledge—a field composed of interconnected domains rather than a singular discipline.

This idea is expressed through:

A numbered, modular system representing key areas of architectural understanding

A layout that mimics curriculum frameworks or manifestos, reinforcing the educational theme

A bold visual hierarchy that balances urgency (poster) with depth (essay-like content)

The poster becomes both a promotional piece and a didactic tool.

Design Approach
Typography

Typography drives the visual impact and organization:

A large, bold headline (“HARVARD GSD”) establishes immediate presence and institutional authority

The subheading in bright color introduces contrast and draws attention to the central question

Body text is carefully structured into numbered sections, maintaining readability despite density

The typographic system ensures the content remains scannable while supporting deep reading.

UR BOOKS - LEGAL SIZE BROCHURE

2015

Urban Research Book, Tri-fold Brochure

Overview

This project is a tri-fold brochure for Urban Research (UR), a publication series focused on progressive discourse in urbanism and city-making. The brochure introduces the publication’s mission, editorial voice, and contributors while also showcasing a range of past issues.

The design needed to function both as an informational artifact and a navigational overview, guiding readers through dense academic content in a compact, folded format.

Concept

The brochure is conceptually driven by the idea of urban systems and layered navigation—mirroring how cities are experienced in segments, sequences, and interconnected parts.

This is expressed through:

A panel-based narrative structure, where each fold reveals a new layer of information

A modular grid that reflects both urban planning logic and editorial systems

A rhythm between text-heavy central panels and image-driven side panels, echoing theory vs. practice

The unfolding interaction becomes part of the storytelling.

2015

This project is a poster design for the academic publication Beyond the Square: Urbanism and the Arab Uprisings, edited by Deen Sharp and Claire Panetta. The aim was to create a visually compelling yet intellectually grounded piece that communicates the book’s critical exploration of urban space in political movements across the Arab world.

The design moves away from stereotypical imagery of protest (crowds, conflict, spectacle) and instead reflects the book’s central argument: that uprisings must be understood through spatial, urban, and systemic frameworks.

To express this, the poster uses:

-Abstract cartographic textures to evoke geography, infrastructure, and territorial complexity
-Layered linework suggesting networks, borders, and movement
-A restrained visual language that prioritizes analysis over emotion

The result is a conceptual translation of urbanism as both a physical and political construct.

The final poster presents the book as both a scholarly work and a contemporary cultural artifact. It achieves clarity, hierarchy, and conceptual depth while maintaining a strong visual identity.
