(the)MAGAZINE

Cross-Platform Editorial Publication Design

themagazine.pub is an independent subculture publication exploring alternative culture, experimental writing, and editorial storytelling across print and digital formats.

The project develops a unified visual system that translates the magazine’s editorial identity across both its printed issues and its online publication platform.

My work focused on shaping the editorial layout system and designing the accompanying digital publication experience. The website extends the magazine’s typographic and compositional language into a screen-based format, allowing content to be accessed through a continuous, navigable reading structure while maintaining the publication’s expressive visual identity.

Rather than treating print and web as separate outputs, both are designed as interconnected parts of a single editorial system, reinforcing the magazine’s cultural voice across media.

Role: Editorial and digital publication design, typographic design, visual composition

Tools: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Web design (layout/UI system)

UR Books

UR Books: Downtown (Upper Manhattan Research Publication)

Editorial Design / Book Layout

Contributed to the editorial design of a research publication focused on urban development in Upper Manhattan. My work focused on designing select spreads, translating complex planning data into clear visual narratives through maps, timelines, and infographics.

A structured grid system, consistent typography, and a restrained color palette organize dense information while maintaining readability across spreads. The design emphasizes clarity and hierarchy, allowing readers to navigate detailed content intuitively without losing engagement.

The final publication delivers a cohesive, print-ready book that effectively communicates research insights through thoughtful editorial design and data visualization.

Role: Editorial layout design (selected spreads), infographic design
